Luxury vinyl plank (LVP) gives a wood-look surface with a vinyl construction. Product type, room use, substrate, moisture conditions, and installation instructions all shape the result. We plan those details with you before the first plank goes down.
A practical wood-look floor, planned for the room beneath and around it.

PRODUCT & SITE REVIEW
LVP collections differ in construction, finish, installation system, and instructions. We review these four decisions together before recommending a direction.
Compare rigid-core and flexible products, thickness, wear-layer specification, finish, edge detail, and the manufacturer’s approved uses. No single label guarantees performance.
Think about traffic, pets, sunlight, furniture, cleaning, and adjoining rooms. We match the look and product limitations to the way the space is actually used.
A sound, clean, dry-enough substrate within the selected product’s flatness tolerance matters. High spots, low spots, movement, or moisture need evaluation and preparation.
Click-lock floating and glue-down systems have different requirements. We plan layout, perimeter clearances, doorways, height changes, and trim for a coherent finish.
UNDERSTANDING LVP
Luxury vinyl plank is a manufactured flooring product designed in plank form, often with a printed wood-look design and protective wear surface. Rigid-core and flexible formats vary, as do attached pad, thickness, finish, and installation instructions. It is not solid or engineered hardwood, and it cannot be sanded and refinished like a wood floor. A “waterproof plank” claim does not waterproof the subfloor, seams, walls, or a room after flooding; moisture testing and prompt cleanup still matter.
FROM SITE CHECK TO FINAL EDGE
Illustrative sequence. We use floating click-lock or glue-down only where the chosen product and site conditions allow; specifications govern tolerances and details.
CHOOSING A SYSTEM
Two similar-looking planks can require different preparation and installation. We compare the actual product data with the substrate and plan transitions to adjacent floors before setting a scope.

VINYL PLANK FAQ
LVP is manufactured flooring supplied as individual planks, commonly with a printed wood-look design and protective surface. Construction, finish, dimensions, and use ratings vary by collection.
They use different constructions and can differ in feel, subfloor requirements, installation method, and approved locations. We compare the exact product instructions rather than assuming one type suits every room.
Some manufacturers describe the planks as waterproof, but that does not make the assembled room waterproof. Water can reach edges, seams, walls, or the substrate, and prolonged leaks or flooding require prompt attention. Follow the selected product’s warranty and care terms.
Flatness limits are product-specific. We check for high and low areas, movement, damage, and contaminants, then plan leveling or repair as needed to meet the manufacturer’s stated tolerance.
Sometimes, if the selected product permits that substrate and it is sound, clean, flat, and within moisture limits. Existing layers, adhesives, and surface conditions need review before a decision.
We review the substrate and the product’s required testing and limits. A water-resistant surface does not remove the need to address moisture from a slab, crawl space, leak, or other source.
Neither is universal. The product, substrate, room layout, traffic, and manufacturer instructions determine which method is appropriate. Some collections allow only one method.
We plan plank direction and the height of adjoining surfaces, then use suitable thresholds or transition profiles. Perimeter and movement details follow the product’s instructions.
Sweep or vacuum with a suitable setting, use the manufacturer-approved cleaner and method, protect furniture feet, and wipe spills promptly. Avoid excess water, steam, abrasive products, or methods the manufacturer excludes.
